Around the campfire

As the rain falls gently here in Cumbria this evening, my mind moves forward to one month from today ~ when we gather with friends, old and new, at this year’s family camp for The Mother magazine at Limetree Farm, North Yorkshire.

The Sun goes down, the fire gets lit....and friends gather
together for warm conversation...

and the sharing of dreams, hopes and visions...
The boys and men will have collected the wood and be building up the fire. Tea will be brewing, and children will be running through the meadow.

Preparing the cob oven for bread making, camp style....

The first evening’s meal will be a choice of:

Chilli bean and sweet corn stew with basmati rice
Or
Vegetable soup with freshly-baked bread from the cob oven

A beautiful mother and her daughter
spend some quiet time together.

Salads will have been prepared, and dessert will be cinnamon apples and custard.

If you fancy making damper (Australian campfire bread) at camp, we'll have plenty of flour available.

One of the resident guitarists, Beck, will sing his no. 1 hit:
"The heron bit my..."

I’m looking forward to spending five days immersed in the company of lovely and loving families, in a place of beauty and peace. There’s still place for another family if you’d like to attend. Information and a booking form here:

Thanks to Alex Simon and Jacqui Ferguson for these photographs from last year's camp.

And the cover of The Mystic Cookfire, illustrated
by Sara Simon, inspired by one of our camps.

Laura W. ~ you're in charge of focaccia bread this year.
Here's your oven.
